This poem was originally published in “Outlet” (now called “Limestone Review”) a Loras College literary publication, Summer 1988.
Text in the image:
To Friends
A spark, a flare, a flame,
a match drawn across
the back of the book
to the blackened wick,
awakened, reborn.
Fire in the apricot wax
reaches, sighing
as it stretches.
A movement too quick –
the flame wavers, trembles,
stays bright.
A gift:
The blue center,
and your light in this gray room.

Wonderful. Thank you Linda!
